Winter 2008

Dear Friends:

Life takes us on many unexpected twists and turns. Four years ago, I was a happily married mother of two, I enjoyed my job, and had quality time with my family and friends. It was as if a rug was pulled out from under me when my husband, Matt Wiederkehr, was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer. Needless to say, my life felt like it was spinning out of control.

Unfortunately, most of us have come face-to-face with the loss of a loved one. At the time, you are consumed with grief and if you are like me, you wonder if you will ever have the ability to laugh again. Somehow we manage to pick ourselves up and carry on.

My husband was an amazing individual. Facing his own imminent death, he devoted the last months of his life creating a foundation that would address the treatment and care of young people battling terminal illnesses. He showed an unwavering commitment to this effort, and I believe it gave him a great measure of relief knowing that we would carry his vision forward.

We did, and we will continue to do so.

Today I can laugh again. Much of that is due to the great rewards that come with helping others. All of us can work together to make a difference. Working to realize Matt’s vision is the best antidote to feeling helpless in the wake of such loss. WE CAN CHANGE THE OUTCOMES for young people who are suffering with terminal diseases.

I invite you to join us and make a difference. Please hit the “Donate Now” button and you will share our vision – Matt’s Promise – to help young people who are suffering from terminal illnesses.

Thank you for your support!

Sincerely,

Jen Wiederkehr
